A world premiere! Together with a consortium of partners, ESORO developed the first hydrogen truck of the 35t class for Coop. This transport quantity let the truck easily integrate in the regular logistic process of Coop.
In May 2017, ESORO received the first MOT approval for a fuel cell truck within the 35t class. Months of test-days with thousands of road kilometers and a close cooperation with authorities have proceeded the approval. This truck can provide the stores of the supermarket chain Coop with fresh food.
A fuel cell vehicle is an electric vehicle that obtains energy directly from an on-board chemical reaction of hydrogen and oxygen. This reaction takes place in the fuel cell. Behind the driver’s cabin, a rack holds seven carbon fiber tanks with a pressure capacity of 350 bar; those are stored directly at the refrigerated body. These tanks provide the truck with max. 31 kg of hydrogen. Therewith, the truck reaches a range of 400 km and can be refueled within only 10 minutes.
